Believe it or not this was my first book by Lisa Jewell and I’m pretty sure she has published well over 20.

None of This is True is about two women. One runs a podcast and another…she’s a normal housewife with children. Alix Summers, the podcaster seems to have it all. She’s beautiful and has a loving husband and adorable children. She has a beautiful house and a white fluffy cat. Josie Fair is married to a man who could be her father. She was 15 when they met, he was about 42. They married and had two children.

            On the night of Josie’s 45^th birthday she chooses to go out to a fancy restaurant (something she doesn’t normally choose to do) and sees another woman celebrating her birthday. When using the restroom, she says hello and discovers that it also Alix’s 45^th birthday. She also discovers that Alix was born in the same hospital. What a coincidence!

            This meeting starts an obsession for Josie. When she gets home she looks up Alix online and discovers that she’s a podcaster. Alix takes women who became extremely successful but started from horrible beginnings and makes a podcast out of it. Josie decides to find her and meet her. Through her internet search she establishes a personal connection and meets Alix at the kid’s elementary school (the current school of Alix’s kids---how coincidental). Josie convinces Alix to do a podcast on her. That Josie is about to make some huge changes in her life.

            Alix begins her research and her interviews into Josie’s life. But what she finds will shock you and soon enough Josie disappears as fast as she appeared.

            I won’t say anything else because this book was crazy! I don’t really reach for suspenseful thrillers. But every now and then I’ll give one a go. I kept seeing other reviews on Instagram, everyone was giving this 5 stars and saying how amazing it was. That this was Jewell’s best one yet. I can’t confirm that it’s her best one as it’s my first one by her but I do agree that it was definitely 5/5 stars!

            Lisa Jewell’s writing was engaging and very suspenseful. She brings the reader along the journey. You feel like you are standing in the room watching it all play out. That’s the goal of writers, right? That you feel like you’re in the world and there with the characters or you feel like you are the main character.

            I couldn’t put it down and I read it in a day. I have 7-year-old twins so that’s saying something. I had to know what happened next. And as always with suspense novels…characters are never whom they seem. Authors who can use their writing and confuse you along the way are the authors you want to read. I don’t mean confuse like what the heck are they writing about. I mean confuse as in what are the characters doing. Are they good or are they bad? Are they guilty or innocent? When you can’t figure out the answer and the end that is when you know the author has achieved their goal.
